LISC High School Players Shine:

Bulletin Board: Soccer players honored Tue, 10/26/2010 - 10:05pm | Fred Kroner
(NOTE: All but one of these kids are LISC players)

Urbana midfielder Adam Blackman was one of four area athletes selected as all-state by the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association. He was joined by two other seniors: Central's Micah Walker and Hoopeston Area/Bismarck-Henning's Ian Park along with Blue Ridge junior Jonathan Malone. Blackman was the leading vote-getter. Malone was the area scoring
leader this season with 49 goals.

Narrowly missing IHSSCA all-state status were Danville defenseman Dennis Forrest, Uni High midfielder Tarik Koric and Fisher/GCMS forward Jordan Sizemore.

Forrest, Koric and Sizemore headlined a 16-player all-sectional team for the 33 schools that make up Section 15. Others from the area recognized include Urbana senior Morgan Lewis, Central junior Julio Zarco, Danville senior Clayton Cottle, Mahomet-Seymour senior Brandon Fritz, Monticello junior Jacob Hanselman, Uni High sophomore Patrick Wong, Blue Ridge senior
Nick Builta, Hoopeston Area/B-H senior Kraig VanWieringen, Uni High junior Conrad Schloer and Urbana sophomore Jonathan Lukusa.

LISC Alumni Shine in Post-season for Parkland Men's and Women's:

Four Women's Soccer Players Earn All-Region Recognition
Despite losing a heartbreaking match in the Region 24 tournament yesterday, the future looks bright for the Parkland Women's Soccer team. Four players, including three freshman, have earned All-Region recognition.

Freshman Sadie Somers (Normal U-High) and Kim Vega (Champaign Central) were named First Team All-Region while fellow freshman Kelsie Donley (Mahomet-Seymour earned Honorable Mention recognition.  Sophomore Alexis Sokol (Bloomington Central Catholic) also was named Honorable Mention Recognition. (All four girls played for LISC at one point.)

Men's Soccer stuns SWIC
Former News-Gazette Player of the Year Richard Kayede scored just two minutes into the second overtime period to lead the sixth-seed Parkland Men's Soccer team to a 2-1 2 OT upset of third-seeded Southwestern Illinois.  Kayede's golden goal came from 40 yards out came on a pass from Victor Martinez.  On the shot, the SWIC goakeeper had difficulty while attempting to catch the ball, catching but then fumbling the ball as it dropped over the goal line for the winning score.
