Our Coaches

The youth in Champaign-Urbana and surrounding areas have a couple of options to participate in the fastest growing sport in America. Soccer is the sport that most effectively teaches children to work together as a team to achieve a goal. Taking part in a soccer program creates an opportunity to have fun, to make friends, and to improve self-esteem. Children play soccer because they want to have fun, improve their skills, be with their friends and be successful. All ages, even the youngest of athletes are highly motivated to learn and participate and this motivation will continue if the dedication is there to improve their skills, learn new skills, and provide fun and the opportunity to make new friends.

The Little Illini Soccer Club follows the U.S. soccer mandate to avoid “lines, laps, and lectures” in its training sessions. Practices are centered on warm-ups and skill development sessions that emphasize one ball for every player and then small-sided games of six to eight players. By increasing each player’s number of “touches” on the ball during practice sessions the club insures faster development and more fun.

The Little Illini Soccer Club provides youth with quality instruction and guidance. Our coaches and trainers are enthusiastic and committed. They are chosen with the greatest care and are encouraged to participate in educational opportunities to grow as models, teachers, counselors and friends of the young athletes. The Club has the largest number of licensed coaches/trainers in the area. They are dedicated to getting to know the players and to maximizing their desire to play and to become successful. Coaches/trainers are motivated to meet the needs of every player and to help him or her achieve their goals.
