Cancellation of 7/22 - 7/24 Tryouts for 2020-2021 season

The previously scheduled tryouts to take place at either Zahnd Park or Johnson Park in Champaign 7/22-7/24/2020 have been cancelled.

Throughout the planning of our Fall tryouts, it has always been our priority to ensure the safety of all participants. We have, therefore, had to make many adjustments to our format in order to comply with COVID-19 regulations.

As of right now, IFC is taking into account all of the current data and guidelines made available to us to make informed decisions regarding the fall season. IHSA, IYSA, and the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity have all released valuable information and suggestions that we have taken into consideration when forming our own guidelines. In a recent IHSA article, there was a call for all scrimmages in contact sport to be avoided. And as the number of positive cases within the Champaign County continue to rise, it is important for us to make further adjustments.

At this time we believe that it's in the best interest of IFC and the Chambana community that we cancel the previously scheduled tryout and develop an action plan that will maximize safety for our participants. The potential risk of illness far outweighs the reward of hosting a special event with large numbers of participants for our kids at this time.

Currently, in lieu of a formal tryout session, all interested players will be invited to the first week of training in late August where player assessment will take place, followed by team assignments soon thereafter. For more information on registration please visit: https://www.illinoisfc.com/registration.

Finally, it is important to note that IFC is fully committed to participating in a 2020-2021 season. At present, we are planning to move forward with outdoor fall training and local and CIYSL competition for the fall season, but will continue to monitor any updated guidance from these state and local health agencies. Information regarding a specific action plan will be sent out at a later date. We urge you all (even if you are on the fence) to complete the registration process for the fall season (https://illinoisfc.sportngin.com/register/form/725113225).  We also encourage you to forward this message along to any families/players who might be interested in joining IFC.

We are excited to safely reunite for the season. Stay tuned for a descriptive action plan.
